• Service amputee prosthetic needs

• Assist in production and quality assurance in all areas of custom prosthetic manufacturing

• Act as patient education resource

• Assess, fit, fabricate and dispense custom prosthetic devices

• Possess background knowledge in the production and fitting of custom prosthetic devices

• Solve technical problems and liaise with coordinator, patients, technical, clinical and support staff

• Maintain current chart/client record with technical and clinical information

Skills and Qualifications:

• Certified with the Canadian Board of Certification of Prothetists and Orthotists

• Graduate of Clinical Methods in Prosthetics and Orthotics program at an accredited academic facility

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrate manual dexterity skills both clinically and technically

• Must be able to work efficiently both in a team and individual environment

Kelowna General Hospital’s Orthotic and Prosthetic Department is a full service department integrated with the Rehabilitation Centre. Orthotists are fully supported by two technical staff and administrative support staff. The department operates Monday to Friday providing In-Patient and Out-Patient services. It also receives referrals from the community in both Orthotic and Prosthetic disciplines.

Qualifications:

• Completion of recognized Orthotics Program and two years’ recent experience in a rehabilitation health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
